Athlete of the Month – Marianne Cottingham
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
A little about myself: I've always been active in various
sports and activities but I wanted to dedicate my energy to focus on building
mass and trimming fat, so I decided to pursue a fitness competition. I keep
very busy as a rule, running my own business and working at a second practice,
while attending school as well. Since this prep began four months ago, I
finished my degree, worked through pre requisites, and got accepted to graduate
school starting in 5 months! I will be doing a master’s degree in counselling
psychology which I am very excited about.
Q: Why did you choose Team Fit Barbie?
I chose Team Fit Barbie because I felt that Kristin would be
the right coach to prep me based on her academic and athletic background, as
well as her approach to success. Having been through the prep for months, I
believe I made the right choice Kristin is a very dedicated coach who was
patient and helpful; I had many questions! Having now been part of the team, I
am glad to have teammates for support who are going through the process and
facing similar challenges and successes.
Q: What is your favourite training day?
At first I was dreading leg days, but by the end of prep,
leg days became my favourite training days! Specifically the glutes &
hamstring workout!
Q: Words to live by:
Words to live by would definitely be "trust the
process". That's important especially during challenges or when you feel
like you have hit a plateau. Things do keep changing!
Recipe of the Month –Clean
Cupcakes!
1 cup of oat flour (grind up rolled oats)
½ cup of Visalus protein powder (tastes like cake mix so
this is the best to use)!
8 oz plain greek yogurt
4 egg whites
¼ cup of water
¼ tsp sea salt
½ tsp baking soda
1/3 cup cocoa powder
Stevia to taste (I use ~ ½ tsp)
Icing:
1 cup plain greek yogurt
Mix in whatever flavour you like. I normally use PB2, cocoa
powder, or flavoured stevia to mix with the greek yogurt.
Bake for 350F for 16 minutes. Makes 1 dozen cupcakes. Enjoy!

make their bikini debut at the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic:
Dana Maternick - Team Fit Barbie. This 18 year old bombshell
is going to turn some heads with her ripped abs, tiny waist, and toned legs!
Marianne Cottingham – Team Fit Barbie. This hockey chick has
balanced 2 jobs, school, and being accepted into a Master’s program during prep
and still managed to add some definition, size, and lean down to get stage
ready!
Vanessa Stone – Team Genetx (Fit Barbie posing client). This
tall beauty will dazzle you with her moves, her confidence, and her sass on
stage. Doesn’t hurt that she has legs for days and abs of steel!
